Reykjanes & New Friends

Over Iceland airwaves, I met a guy called Frank. This was the first day that frank and I really started to shoot together. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we knew we had to do something bigger: two days later, we set of on a great adventure around the whole ring road of Iceland.  it was a heck of journey. Full story coming soon.

For now, take in these shots from our first day out shooting together in Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula. We were even lucky enough to catch the northern lights over the moss fields.

For your enjoyment,

Hunting for the Fire in the Sky

Oftentimes, when one sees photographs of the aurora borealis, one sees the most spectacular, beautiful images. However, the reality of the aurora e pertinence is somewhat difficulty, in my 2 or so years in Iceland, I've seen the most spectacular auroras only twice. The more moderate displays don't make them any less beautiful, and they do show the range of the experience possible, under different conditions.

This night in late October was one such day: after an insta-meet with @rezzzzzzz_photo and @rockscissorstaper , the results below were the highlights of our adventure. It was an all-nighter of cloud chasing and long exposures, taking us two hours away from Reykjavik all the way up to the snæfulsnes peninsula. Check out their Instagram handles. They are both excellent photographers.

With that, I shall stop.

Thanks for stopping by,

Joe Shutter

From The Show Shutter to Joe Shutter

This is my first post under my new identity. The need for a change in branding stems from a a spread in my photographic interests over the course of the summer. The Show Shutter was all about shows; with the outlets for my music photography, a wen magazine that I regularly shoot for, www.albumm.is  and the newspaper that I publish with weekly, www.ske.is

Joe Shutter focuses on my non-music exploits: the exploration of the country in which I live, Iceland, as well as any other travels I can undertake, given half a chance. It's my take on Iceland, what I get up to and, how get around, who I got around with and maybe same mention of the gear that I use to capture it all.
